Programs

SWISH provides affordable, community based housing through the following housing programs:

General Housing Program

SWISH's main housing program consists of 288 properties leased from the private rental market and 244 properties leased from the Department of Housing. Applicants for this program must meet NSW Department of Housing eligibility criteria. For further information click here.

Social Housing Subsidy Program

The Social Housing Subsidy Program provides housing to very low, low and moderate income households. Unlike SWISH's general housing program, SHSP provides housing to households who may not be eligible for public housing or community housing. For further information click here.

Affordable Housing Program

Affordable housing is targeted to moderate income households who are in full or part time work and can afford to pay 75% of the median rent. Currently this program is only available to people who are or have been residents of Waverley LGA.  SWISH will expand this program in the near future through our successful bid for affordable housing through the Affordable Housing Innovation Fund. For further information click here.

Fee for Service Program

Our fee for service program consists of providing property management and other services to the following organisations:

  • Waverley Council- Affordable Housing Program
  • Ningana Housing Cooperative
  • Aids Council of NSW
  • Department of Juvenile Justice
  • The Settlement

SWISH is interested in expanding our fee for service activities. Please contact SWISH's Executive Officer to discuss your proposal.

Waverley Council and the Aids Council of New South Wales provides two examples of SWISH's Fee for Service programs:

Maree Girdler, Manager Integrated Planning and Community Consultation, Waverley Council  says;
Waverley Council is committed to providing a range of housing choices for Waverley residents or those who can demonstrate a connection to the local area. To do this well, Council has been able to rely on SWISH to provide good tenancy management, an understanding of the aims of the program and a professional approach.

Services include an affordable housing program, our social housing program for older residents and accommodation for people with a mild intellectual disability. "Our affordable housing program is growing with the private sector delivering properties in new developments for low to middle income people. This is an innovative program which was developed from a belief that people in Waverley should be able to remain in the local area despite significant social change. Housing provided is of the highest quality and yet still affordable. Council is in a unique position in providing this kind of service."

 Lance Schema, Manager Community Services AIDS Council of NSW says;
"ACON and SWISH have been working in partnership for over five years to meet the transitional housing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. The success of this partnership is the result of each partys clearly-defined responsibility, the strong working relationships between staff and the shared goal of supporting communities at risk of homelessness."
